ACEP research topics

1. Genotyping and DNA sequence analysis

- Microsatellite (SSR) markers on high-resolution agarose gels or polyacrylamide gels (LiCor sequencers).

- SNP (single-nucleotide polymorphism) markers by CAS-PCR (Competitive Allele-Specific PCR) or sub-contracted (KASPar method, Illumina Infinium, Affymetrix, or GBS (Genotyping by sequencing)).

- Other types of markers : CAPS (Cleaved Amplified Polymorphic Sequences) or IDP (Insertion-Deletion Polymorphism) visualized on sequencers, AFLP (Amplified Fragment Length Polymorphism), SSAP (Sequence-Specific Amplified Polymorphsim).

2. Analysis of gene expression levels by quantitative real-time RT-PCR on wheat, Sunflower, or Maize

3. Genetic mapping

The ACEP team provides a service of linkage mapping of Maize genes, and develops molecular and software tools for the production of genetic linkage maps from segregating populations.

4. Meiosis and recombination

This research topic is carried out in collaboration with Olivier Martin in the GQF team, in close concertation with the group "Meiose et recombinaison" of INRA, Versailles (Christine Mézard, Raphaël Mercier), as well as Denise Zickler (IGM Orsay). It contains a "modeling" partcarried out by the GQF team, and a "mapping" part carried out by ACEP. In both cases, we aim at characterizing the number of crossover produced during meiosis, as well as the way these crossovers are distributed along the chromosomes, to help understanding the underlying biological mechanisms.
